Yesterday, we went for a long walk south to visit Winchmore hill. The area I grew up in and spent my childhood. I always believed it was special place mainly through arrogance and snobbery. It is that kind of place. When I was a child and I visited or hung out with my Friends from Edmonton and Palmers green, adjacent towns to the east and south respectively. People would raise their eye brows at me and their put their nose in the air and say ‘oh you’re form the Hill’.
More than that, it has a rich history, it boasts famous ex residents as the infamous Edmonton Witch, Elisabeth Sawyer who was hung for witchcraft, Roger Moore (James Bond), Rod Stewart, Jo Dury (tennis player) and a few other people whom you may have never heard of or cared about.
My mission was simple and that was to find ‘Moor Link’ a footpath that is said to be haunted by said Elisbeth Sawyer and take a picture of Winchmore Hill green. We ended up walking through the ancient forest that once formed much of the land when it was a disconnected village.
