Latest 5km run

I have spent the last 4 months, 3 if you really exclude January, not properly warming up before a run. As I have been preparing for long-distance running, I have taken to running to as close to 30-minute runs an hour runs as possible. These are roughly equivalent to 5km and 10 km respectively. Not warming up has made me slower, my PB for 10km is 47mins, I believe, and 22mins for 5km. This year I have not even got anywhere near, until yesterday, I ran a 10km in 49:30 and today below is a map of the 5km run I did in 24:20mins. Warming up is the key.

The 20 miler.

Ok, just finished and realised I have 1km to walk back to my home. I felt like the last two miles were quite painful and I was dragging myself, which is ok as I felt exactly the same when I ran the 18 miler at the 16 mile point.

I am looking forward to a lot of food and a nice bath. I can relax now for a couple of days.

Last point just looked at my step count and it says 36,000 at the point of finishing, which is hilarious, I remember posting a photo of my watch after recovering from COVID with the same step count and feeling really proud after a return hike.

Running today

I am going for it, not sure how far I will run but it is worth a try. I have set up my kit, loaded my horror podcasts, and now motivating myself to get off of my backside.
