Camelot Moat

This is Camelot moat in the winter, it dates back to the early 1100s. Also there is a claim that is haunted by a red knight as written in Jay Hollis’ book ‘Haunted Enfield’. An oak draw bridge was discovered in 1923 and many of the artefacts from this excavation have lost. The moat is in the northern part of Trent park and borders the Chase. I have taken a group ghost hunting there (tongue in cheek) in 2019, I have since visited a few times with my Son, it’s only a four mile walk from my home.

Chase the Moon 10k

Chase The Moon Olympic Park 9th March 2022

Currently I am behind with training this year and I needed a lift. A 10k is actually an easy race for me and I had no doubts about completing it. The Olympic park holds a special place in my heart for a number of reasons I won’t go into here. In short I was looking for an easy win or low hanging fruit. Race day came round and I was for some reason really worried about doing it. I have put on a few pounds since the marathon and I fill out my running kit a bit more, so I was feeling self conscious . Also I had a number of doubts about completing it (cue post about ADHD). Even though I ran a 5k the day before and a hilly 10k (yes I know) the day before that (Monday). It was flat course and smooth and easy (sorry). It was the perfect race for me in terms of current distance, timing, strategy and pace. I had the best time and ran all 10km with a smile of my face. I can’t wait to go back, the next one is on 25th, I will be away for that weekend which is a shame. So April then.

12 Mile Hike

I eventually made it out and headed north, I went through Broxboure woods and the mud was horrendous. I had to make a detour through the eastern section of the woods, an area I had never been through before. It added an extra 20 minutes to my journey.
