The new set up for 2023

Like most people in the UK, I am subject to the fuel crisis. I haven’t taken any notice of this nor considered the impact until I realised that the government support runs out at the end of March 23.

Once I came to terms with this notion, I understood that I would left with a hefty fuel bill. So this has given me some thought about what I use verses what I need. Plus it will be better on my conscience to be evironmentally considerate.

I packed my computer away (more for the purpose of decorating than anything), I would often turn it on in the morning (both of them) and only use them a couple of times and then turn them of last thing at night. My internet stays on all the time, plus my tv on standby, not anymore.

I only turn lights on in rooms I am in. I have turned the heating down in rooms that don’t need it all the time. I have stopped washing up dishes as they are used now set them aside for a late eveing clean.

I have also attempted to do my washing twice a week rather than every day, it does mean my wahsing basket has filled up quickly. My dryer has not been on since Monday.

I now use my Lenovo tablet for most things, with a 10″ screen, it works and fits well for my use. I am still getting to know my way round it. I set up my Audio Pi as an FTP server, now I can record on the Pi and transfer the files easily over FTP to the tablet, edit and publish. All battery powered, plus my mobile internet of 20gb a month works well with both the Pi and the tablet.

The 10th year

I have deliberately not celebrated the new year in the traditional way, watching fireworks, the countdown, resolutions, unattainable hope and plans I won’t complete. I have decided to be realistic in my approach. Yesterday, I had fun with Lucas and spent the evening with Jo and her Friends Adrian and Andy. Jo made us a lovely curry and we played Jenga, a game, I would normally turn my nose up at. I spoke to Lucas, who was very excited, my Mum, and Sisters. One of whom gave the usual lame excuse for being absent.

This year, my work situation will improve, my home will be better decorated, my art and theatre will be off the charts and I will be a good at being a Satanic Pagan.

So much for making lists. Happy new year.
