I don’t take any pleasure from being discouraging. I witnessed the Enfield parade of lights this evening as part of the 25 days of counting down to Christmas. It was a disappointment. I haven’t seen it for a few years, I think the last one was before COVID. I hadn’t realised it had deteriorated so much. It was short for one, the whole thing felt clinical, rather than community focused and led. The whole parade past my work in 20mins. 5 Children waved, 3 I knew from Lucas’ school. The variety of community groups were minimal and to be honest I felt embarrassed by the whole thing.

After watching, I made my way to Enfield town to watch the Mayor turn on lights. ( I had to shout and wave to get them to respond, something not befitting of a parade). I didn’t stay, I went home.

We were going to have a float this year, something I have wanted to do since we first it back in 2013, I am really glad we didn’t.

I completely forgot to mention, this was filmed on a Raspberry Pi 4 8GB and the audio was recorded on the same Pi using a rode usbnt.
